A Norwegian Champion Team with Ambitions

After the sensational triumph in 2007, when Brann won the Tippeligaen for the first time in 44 years, a period of great expectations followed. In 2008–2009, the club was still among the favourites in Norwegian football, and the hunt for new trophies was led by stars such as Eirik Bakke and Erik Huseklepp.

The Stars from Bergen

The team included both local heroes and seasoned names. The technical attacking player Huseklepp quickly became a crowd favourite with his flair and goal-scoring ability, while Bakke, with experience from the Premier League, brought structure and power to the midfield. In defence, Håkon Opdal guarded the goal with a steady hand.

European Adventure and Domestic Stability

The season featured European participation in the UEFA Cup, where Brann met big clubs like Deportivo La Coruña. At Brann Stadion, the atmosphere remained electric, and although the golden glory of 2007 was difficult to recreate, the team fought bravely in both the league and cup tournaments.
