Blackpool football shirt 1996
Blackpool football shirt 1996
There was something charmingly unpolished about Blackpool FC in the mid-90s – both on the pitch and in the changing room. And this away shirt from the 1996–97 season stands as a piece of football history from the lower English leagues with immense identity and character.
The shirt is in normal vintage condition
The shirt was produced by the British brand Pelada, which was behind several lower-league shirts in the 90s, and designed with wide vertical stripes in light and dark blue shades. The embroidered club crest, the sponsor logo “Inenco” and the collar with red and black trim give the shirt a strong and authentic expression.
The 1996–97 season offered tough matches in Division Two (now League One), where Blackpool battled against clubs like Wrexham, Brentford, and Gillingham. The squad was led by manager Gary Megson, and among the key players were Andy Watson and James Quinn, both of whom delivered important goals in the club's attempt at promotion.
Although the club did not reach the playoffs that season, the shirt remains a nostalgic reminder of the times when the battle at Bloomfield Road was fought by local heroes, far from the Premier League spotlight. A classic for any collector with a love for English lower-league football.
Do you want to own a piece of 90s Blackpool nostalgia with wide stripes and an even wider fit?
