Thierry Henry arrived in Barcelona in the summer of 2007 as Arsenal's record goalscorer and one of the Premier League's greatest strikers. The number 14 followed him to Camp Nou, but the surroundings were new: Ronaldinho was still at the club, Messi was on his way to the world elite, and Frank Rijkaard's Barcelona was facing the end of an era.

The jersey also tells the story of Camp Nou. In 2007, it had been 50 years since the stadium was inaugurated, and the anniversary was marked directly around the Barcelona logo with Camp Nou 1957-2007. The turquoise blue Nike model is documented as the club's away jersey from 2007-08.

Henry did not join a Barcelona at its peak. He was often placed on the left wing, while Messi, Eto'o, Ronaldinho, Iniesta, and the very young Bojan were among the names around him. Nevertheless, the Frenchman became the club's top scorer in his first season with 19 goals across all competitions. His first Barcelona goal came against Lyon in the Champions League, and ten days later he scored a hat-trick against Levante.

Europe offered hope for a grand finale. Barcelona reached the Champions League semi-final, but after a 0-0 draw at Camp Nou, Paul Scholes sent Manchester United through with the only goal of the match at Old Trafford. Henry was brought on after an hour but could not change the outcome.

The season ended without major trophies and was Rijkaard's last. In retrospect, 2007-08 therefore stands right between two Barcelona eras: Ronaldinho's era was fading out, Henry had just arrived, and the following year Pep Guardiola would take over and create one of the club's greatest teams.
