Parken had grown accustomed to gold, but the 2004-05 season was when FCK had to watch Brøndby take both the championship and the cup. On the other hand, a new Nordic tournament came to town – and it ended with Copenhagen silverware.

FCK entered the season as defending Danish champions with Hans Backe on the bench and profiles like Jesper Grønkjær, Álvaro Santos, Peter Møller, and Tobias Linderoth in the squad. But the Superliga went to Brøndby. Michael Laudrup's team pulled ahead, while FCK had to settle for second place.

The winter, however, gave Danish football something completely new. The Royal League gathered the best teams from Denmark, Sweden, and Norway, and FCK reached the final against IFK Gothenburg. After a 1-1 draw, the first Nordic title was decided by penalties in Gothenburg. FCK won 12-11 after an unusually long penalty shootout, thus becoming the first winner of the Royal League.

The shirt belongs to the Kappa period, where the tight-fitting models and large Carlsberg logos became a significant part of FCK's expression. Documented trade advertisements identify similar Kappa/Carlsberg models as 2004-05, including XL specimens.

The heavy wear on the Carlsberg print does not make this the prettiest survivor from the Parken years. On the other hand, it looks exactly like something from a time when the Royal League existed, Zuma could still get Parken out of their seats, and FCK-Brøndby had truly become Danish football's great power struggle.
