FC Copenhagen football jersey 2010-11

Black and blue horizontal stripes are not usually the first thing one associates with FCK. But 2010-11 was not a normal FCK season either. It was the year Ståle Solbakken's team pushed the boundaries of what a Danish club could achieve in the Champions League.

The model is documented as FCK's away shirt from 2010-11: Kappa broke with more than ten years of black away shirts and incorporated the club's blue color as wide horizontal stripes. Carlsberg adorned the chest, while Jesper Grønkjær was among the players who wore the design.

The season became a highlight in the club's history. FCK advanced from the Champions League group ahead of Rubin Kazan and Panathinaikos and drew 1-1 against Lionel Messi, Xavi and the rest of FC Barcelona in Parken. Only Chelsea put an end to their run in the round of 16 – the first time a Danish club had reached that far in the Champions League.

Domestically, the difference was almost absurd. FCK won 25 out of 33 league games, scored 77 goals and finished 26 points ahead of OB. Dame N’Doye scored 25 league goals, while profiles such as William Kvist, Grønkjær, Zanka, Oscar Wendt and Johan Wiland were the backbone of a team that secured the championship with seven rounds remaining.

It is therefore a football shirt from a very precise FCK memory: Barcelona under the floodlights in Parken, N'Doye's goals and a Danish championship won with a superiority that still makes 2010-11 a benchmark in the club's history.
