When FCK unveiled the pink third jersey in August 2022, the club looked back. The colours were a direct tribute to 2009-11, when FCK notably wore pink against Marseille, BATE Borisov, and Chelsea. The new version debuted against Lyngby and accompanied an FCK team that later won the Double.
The Mattsson name carries the story forward to another European evening. After 13 goals in 22 matches for NEC Nijmegen, Magnus Mattsson was brought to Copenhagen in February 2024 and given the number 8. Just 12 days later, he was in the starting lineup for his FCK debut: Manchester City in a Champions League round of 16 match at Parken.
City took the lead, but after 34 minutes, Mattsson punished an error in the visitors' buildup and equalised to 1-1. FCK lost 3-1, but on his first evening in an FCK jersey, Mattsson had scored against the reigning European champions. This makes the number 8 easily associated with a very specific moment in recent FCK history.
