November 8, 2023, long looked like the evening when Rasmus Højlund would return home and spoil the party. The former FCK striker scored twice for Manchester United in Parken. But the evening ended in a completely different place: with Roony Bardghji's 87th-minute goal and a 4-3 victory, which became one of FCK's greatest European moments.

FOOTBALL MEMORIES

The white home shirt was launched in July 2023 with a significant change above the lion: three gold stars. FCK had become Danish champions for the 15th time, thus making room for the third star for the first time – one for every five championships.

It primarily became Europe's shirt. FCK fought their way through qualification and landed in the Champions League with Bayern Munich, Manchester United, and Galatasaray. Parken got another one of those autumn seasons where European Tuesdays and Wednesdays felt bigger than the calendar: Bayern had to fight for a 2-1 victory, United were beaten 4-3, and against Galatasaray, a 1-0 victory secured FCK second place and access to the round of sixteen.

The team had Kamil Grabara in goal, Denis Vavro in defence, and Rasmus Falk as the focal point, while Elias Achouri and Mohamed Elyounoussi gave the offence a new dimension. But the image from the autumn belongs to the 17-year-old Roony Bardghji: the ball in front of him in Parken and the finish that sent Manchester United home with a defeat.

The season ended without the Danish championship, but it left something FCK has pursued since their first European adventures: further proof that on the right evenings, Parken can be a very difficult place even for Europe's biggest clubs.
