Juventus had made Italian football almost predictable. Nine championships from 2012 to 2020 had made the Scudetto an annual destination in Turin, but Pirlo's first season as head coach also became the season where Inter under Antonio Conte broke the dominance. Juventus finished as low as fourth and only secured a Champions League spot on the final matchday.
