Leicester City football shirt 2018/19

Three years after their incredible championship, Leicester were figuring out what the next chapter would be. Jamie Vardy was still scoring goals, Kasper Schmeichel was in goal, while James Maddison and Ben Chilwell were among the key players in a team that began the transition to Brendan Rodgers during 2018/19. And for the first time, Leicester wore the three adidas stripes.

FOOTBALL MEMORIES

The classic Leicester blue colour was retained, but the summer of 2018 marked a clear change. After six seasons with Puma, the club entered a new partnership with adidas. The first home shirt featured white shoulder stripes, gold details around the neck and sleeves, and discreet diagonal stripes in the fabric. King Power naturally remained on the chest.

On the pitch, it was a season with two different chapters. Claude Puel started as manager, but after a 1-4 defeat at home to Crystal Palace in February, he was replaced. Brendan Rodgers came from Celtic and took over a team with several of the players who would later establish Leicester at the top of the Premier League. The season ended in 9th place with 52 points.

Jamie Vardy was once again the man in front of goal. He scored 18 league goals, while Schmeichel and Wilfred Ndidi both played all 38 Premier League matches. The squad also included Maddison, Chilwell, Harry Maguire, and the young Çağlar Söyüncü – an interesting mix of the champions from 2016 and the next Leicester generation.

But the story of the season became bigger than football. On 27 October 2018, the club's owner, Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, died along with four others in a helicopter crash outside King Power Stadium. Therefore, 2018/19 remains a very special and emotional season in Leicester's recent history.
