FOOTBALL MEMORIES
The jersey arrived during a turbulent period for Liverpool. The 2010-11 season began with Roy Hodgson in charge and ended with Kenny Dalglish back as manager. Steven Gerrard, Jamie Carragher, and Dirk Kuyt were still the link to the Rafa Benítez years, but in January, Torres was replaced by Suárez and Andy Carroll.
One of the big moments of that spring came against Manchester United at Anfield. Suárez weaved through the United defense and set up Kuyt, who ended up with a hat-trick in a 3-1 victory. Liverpool went from a problematic first half of the season to a sixth-place finish.
Adidas retained the home shirt for the 2011-12 season. Dalglish led Liverpool to two Wembley finals: the FA Cup final was lost to Chelsea, but the League Cup was won against Cardiff after a penalty shootout. It was the club's first trophy since the FA Cup triumph in 2006.
The jersey also marks a shift off the pitch. Standard Chartered replaced Carlsberg as main sponsor, while 2011-12 was the last season with Adidas before Warrior took over. The classic Liverpool logo on the chest also disappeared from the match shirt in favor of the simpler Liver Bird from 2012-13.
