FOOTBALL MEMORIES

2002-03 became Ruud van Nistelrooy's season. The Dutchman scored 44 goals in all competitions, 25 of them in the Premier League, as United caught Arsenal and brought the championship back to Old Trafford.

The jersey continued into 2003-04, but the narrative changed. David Beckham was gone, and an 18-year-old Portuguese player from Sporting arrived. Cristiano Ronaldo was given the number 7 and played his first United season in this very red Nike model. Thus, the design spans an unusual generational shift: from Beckham's last United season to Ronaldo's first.

The Vodafone logo, the black ventilation panels, and Nike's early 00s design simultaneously capture a very specific United era. Nike took over shirt production in 2002, and the model was used throughout both the 2002-03 championship season and the 2004 FA Cup triumph.
